Hilary Clarke - Producer and Director

Hilary ClarkeHilary Clarke is an award winning documentary producer and director.  She won the Broadcast Award for Best Documentary in 2004 for 'Bad Behaviour' - the story of two parents who said they hated their 6 year old and wanted her taken into care.  The programme achieved one of the largest audiences for Channel 4's Cutting Edge series.  Many people believe that the impact of this programme was responsible for the proliferation of popular parenting series which followed.  Hilary also has 2 RTS and 2 Grierson Award nominations.

She worked for the BBC for 7 years, and has been freelance since 1997, spending time at Films of Record, Blast, North One, and Lion amongst others, and for the past 4 years has worked exclusively on Cutting Edge.  A Commissioning Editor described her as one of Channel 4's best directors.

She has successfully originated and developed ideas, and gained commissions.  She has lectured in the art of interviewing at the BBC World Service, and at the Tavistock Clinic.
