Course Tutor: Joanna Crosse
Duration: 1 day
Scheduled Dates: See Calendar of Courses
This course is also available as a Bespoke Workshop (delegates set the date and decide the topics).
Overview:
My experience is that voice training should be done on a one to one basis as each person’s voice is unique. The work can be focused and produce better results if an individual is able to review their work, have practical voice training and set targets.
In order to improve delivery it is important to look at the writing and packaging aspects which is why the voice training can be combined with reporting and packaging skills. The journalists/clients will be asked to bring current examples of their work and accompanying scripts. This will enable them to see how their scripting skills affect their delivery. They can review all aspects of their work: bulletin writing, reporting, lives, as lives, presentation skills.
Given the pressure that journalists and producers are under it is often difficult for individuals to get the feedback they need. At the end of each session we will have agreed to concentrate on particular aspects of their work which will be reviewed at the next training session.
Topics include:
• To help individuals improve their scripting, packaging and delivery for news bulletins and programmes.
• Improve their research techniques
• Encourage reporters to find their own stories
• Understand their audience
• Target their message
• Sharpen their writing skills
• Improve their voice
